Griffin Mountain: Part Nine (session five)

Citadel Trilus

Friday night's group was composed of Rosrolar (S.), Grundle (N.), and Daranth (Oldhawkeyes). Olyander (O.) was out this game.

They had been invited to the King of Trilus citadel's table for dinner, and they were drinking all day in the Stabbing Cat Inn. They Grundle and Daranth tapered their consumption, Rosrolar put more away.

Arriving at the King's Hall they ran into one of the Messengers they had saved, and he slipped each one of them a packet of Herbs. Grundle put his packet under his armpit, Daranth put a little into his mouth (and under his armpit) and was sobered with a nasty headache. Grundle follow suit swallowing his packet, and Rosrolar put his into his pocket.

They joined the King and his family for dinner, and mid-dinner a puppet show by Rosrolar, a tale of the ascension of Sartar for the children. (Rosrolar's player S. was in rare form and described it so dryly and without much fanfare , it was to me hilarious.)

During dinner the PC's other exploits were discussed (fighting the Broo, being associated with causing a large brushfire near Elkoi), and the King offered the party a job as his eyes and ears abroad. Then after dinner another of Rosrolar's Puppet shows this one showing the death of Yelm and the hands of Orlanth (again, S. was in excellent form for comedy). Then Daranth was asked to show how he killed the Smilodon in one blow with two guardsmen and his real axe. This was was a tense moment as a fumble by Daranth would have proved fatal to a guardsman, so Daranth chose to spend a Fortune point to secure a success.

The King next took the group on a tour, and he introduced them to a talking hawk (possibly with a spell) who selected Rosrolar to carry him. The hawk would be a messenger bird to the King from the PC's in distant areas. The groups weapons were sharped, and they were each given 100 Lunars, as well as a single small gem for expenses by the King.

We closed with the group heading back to The Stabbing Cat to find out more about Joh Mith and possibly Pay Surney's whereabouts.
