Super Adventure 4:...The Tower of Collage Van Hausen!
Play report of highlights I recall from Super Adventure 4: Cinematic Edition--The Tower of Collage Van Hausen! Dungeon Master warenunförmig https://againstthecultofthecommodity.blogspot.com/2026/05/1-weekend-7-sessions-18-players-15.html .
I was lucky enough to have the time and energy to play in this BAD ASS Dungeon. I was part of Teams B, and H.
Team B was composed of Glower (me, Oldskol), The King (Oldhawkeyes), Hakoon Red Eye (egg-pionono), Corundum Problema (Gnomic Owl), Ilda Elvira (Kirkuho), and another character (Nobody). We were a mish mash of OD&D, 5e D&D, Troika!, Realms of Yolmi, and other game characters.
We had 60 real time minutes to explore the Tower before being teleported out. We entered The Tower on Level three (at this time we had no idea how the Tower was arranged). The King, I remember, was one of the front rank characters, and during the adventure we learned he was an Elvis Clone, who could shape shift (a Troika! character, I think). Our first room was a rectangle with several doors in the West wall, and a single Wooden door on the East wall. There was a Ladder leading up in the middle of the room. We hit all the doors on the Western wall, and the stand out weird scene was a group of cultists Worshiping a Giant, living Nose.
We dispatched the cultists after they attacked us, and The King wanted the Nose. We left it temporarily in the middle of the room we started in. We also (if I recall correctly found a Golden Chest full of treasure). All items we wanted to carry could go in a back pack of Holding. We divide out an item or two and continued. After a little exploration we went up the ladder to the next floor, level four.
The mapping was a little more confusing for me to remember on level four (as I write this, I'm looking at the maps made public after the adventure). We found one more Golden Chest in the rooms we explored on this level. We ran into a section of The Tomb Of Horrors on this level. I remember encountering some Orcs with axes, with portable foxholes. After killing them we kept the portable holes. I think Corundum Problema was using a fire ball necklace we found in a chest, to blast the baddies. That was an extremely effective tactic (we were also lucky not to get caught in any of the blasts).
Combats were always a mixed bag in this session. The King served with distinguishment as a combat monster! Our final take for Team B was crazy from that run, Glower got 117,000 Experience points for his share (I believe that Experience was Not divided up among characters, instead we got the full amount, each). A portable foxhole Glower could drop anywhere, Potions of Storm Giant Strength, Heroism, and Supreme Healing. Glower leveled from third level to ninth level after that session.
Team H: was Glower again, Meatface (jenx), Corundum Problema (Gnomic Owl), and a level 2 OSE thief called Marciella Caravelli (Cass).
We went for Level two on this run. We hit immediate problems because our first encounter was with...the Avengers! As soon as the DM had finished saying who we were facing Glower used Charm person & Charm Monster on the Hulk. (I figured he would give us the most problems, so I removed him as fast as possible).
Meatface slammed as many of them between some tables in the cafeteria as he could. Meatface then grappled with Iron Man. Marciella Caravelli peged Thor in eye with a crossbow bolt, and I believe we lost Corundum Problema (sadly, he was cool) to a lightning bolt. Meatface and Glower (after casting Haste on the party, and drinking a Potion of Storm giant strength) took down Captain America.
We hit some more rooms and found a Golden Chest, this one full of Star Wars treasure. We armed ourselves a bit and continued. We didn't make much headway we kept running into combats with random encounters, on top of those guarding the items.
Combats were with an Imp throwing teeth that cast random spells. The Butcher from Nightwick Abbey, and finally these WOTC (I don't remember the acronym) cultists. We ended our 60 minutes still in combat.
Glower lived, has the Hulk (who contracted cancer) charmed, and walked with several Rod, wands, and staves. He is knocking on level ten, as a Magic User.
Really I feel like I failed to convey the Absolute Cinema feeling of these Super Adventure delves. When we started to tumble to the spliced together nature of the Levels it added so much. Finding that section of The Tomb Of Horrors was just awesome.
Great Thanks to DM warenunförmig for running this crazy dungeon for us! Shout outs to all of my Team mates on B and H runs. Further Shout out to everyone who participated in this Super Adventure 4.
